Veteran's Prayer

PRAYER FOR VETERANS

Most Holy One,
you rule over all nations.

Today this nation thanks you
for the brave men and women
who serve and have served in the military.

Even now, guard them and give them compassion,
especially for those who confront them as enemies.

Keep our children from hate that hardens,
or from scorekeeping with human lives.

Though in this season
we are a people at war,
let us all live for peace,
as eager for agreement as for victory.

Give encouragement to those serving now throughout the world.
Give peace to those who still hold memories of the horror of war.

As we acknowledge you as the God of Peace,
let us never lose sight of the vision
that we are all brothers and sisters,
members of one family
always called to be faithful to You.

Amen.

Thoughts

Let us not become weary of doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up --  Galatians 6-9

vision without action is a dream.  action without vision is simply passing the time.
Action With Vision is making a positive difference.

A Prayer for those who are ill or caring for someone ill

A Prayer for the Sick

When we are called to be especially
sensitive to the needs of the sick,
We pray …
God of healing, heal your people.
We lift to you imploringly
our needs and the needs of
the sick throughout the world,
particularly those who are cast away
because of their illness.
God of healing, heal your people.
We pray for the patience of the sick,
and the compassion of caregivers.
God of healing, heal your people.
Let your blessing of healing
Come upon our sisters and brothers
that they may praise you
all the days of their lives.
We pray,
Merciful God, hear our prayers.

 A Prayer for Caregivers

Come walk beside us, Lord.
Make Your healing known,
make Your consolation felt,
today, in this place.
Make our tears and our laughter be medicine, to brother, to sister,
today, in this place.
Giggle with us, when we laugh,
And dance with us,
today, in this place.
Lord, when we cry together
embrace us and
let our tears fall on your shoulder,
today, in this place.
Lord, grace our rejoicing and our weeping together to be peace and healing for any grief or fear, pain or sickness endured,
today, in this place.
Lord, our own laughter, and our own tears witness your own;
May they be signs of hope and healing for all,
today, in this place.
Lord, Your presence is necessary;
your embrace is essential for us,
now, in this place!
Lord, make us to “rejoice with those who rejoice;
weep with those who weep” now, in this place. Amen
