Pulling Together for Our kids

Dear ACA Parents,

We would like to extend a warm welcome to all the new and returning families of Aquinas Catholic Academy.

The PTO is a parent volunteer organization that supports the school by organizing volunteers for various programs and by providing financial assistance through fundraising for enrichment programs and other items not available through school funds.

As the parent/guardian of an ACA student, you are automatically a member of the PTO. No registration or payment of dues is required.  Meetings are held on the 1st Tuesday of the month at 6:00pm in the school cafeteria.

The PTO has planned an exciting year of activities for all families to enjoy. Below is a list of activities to be held throughout the 2011 -2012 school year. We encourage you to support the PTO and Aquinas by attending meetings and becoming involved. New ideas and suggestions are always welcome!

Please consider volunteering your time and talent to the PTO. If each ACA family volunteered for one event or activity it would spread the work load of this wonderful organization and make it more manageable, enjoyable and successful for everyone.

Teach your children by example - be involved! We can't do it without you!

BYLAWS OF THE PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION

OF

AQUINAS CATHOLIC ACADEMY

MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) of Aquinas Catholic Academy is to facilitate the creation of a learning community and provide support and assistance to the school in its goal to promote spiritual, moral, and intellectual excellence. The PTO accomplishes its mission by providing opportunities for communication among school community members, by coordinating activities for the teachers, parents, and student body, and by providing financial support for the school and for the activities of the Organization.

MEMBERSHIP: All parents of children enrolled and all teachers and staff members who serve at Aquinas Catholic Academy are members of the Parent Teacher Organization.

EXECUTIVE BOARD: Actions of the Organization shall be decided upon by an Executive Board of the PTO. The Executive Board shall consist of the officers of the Organization, members of the Organization who are in attendance at Organization meetings, and ex officio members including the principal of Aquinas Catholic Academy or his/her delegate.

OFFICERS: Officers of the Parent Teacher Organization shall be elected by the Executive Board of the PTO for a term of two years. Officers may be re-elected for the office they currently hold for one additional two year term.

„h President: The President shall preside over all meetings of the PTO, work with the principal in setting meeting dates, times and agenda, appoint directors and committees as necessary to carry out the objectives of the Organization, and represent the PTO when necessary.

„h Vice President: The Vice President shall assume all the duties of the President in the event of his or her absence or unavailability.

„h Treasurer: The Treasurer shall prepare the annual budget and submit financial reports for all meetings.

„h Secretary: The Secretary shall record the minutes of all meetings and be responsible for all correspondence as directed by the Executive Board.

ELECTIONS: Nominations for offices shall be submitted to the principal in advance of the election meeting. In the event of multiple nominations for the same office, an election by secret ballot shall take place. Elections shall take place at the May meeting or the last meeting of the school year. All members present at the Election meeting shall be eligible to vote. A plurality of votes is required for election.

MEETINGS: There shall be at least one General Meeting of all members of the Organization each year. Executive Board meetings shall take place on a monthly basis or as needed. The final meeting of the school year shall include elections for the coming school year.

PTO's Uniform Swap Shop

It is getting increasingly harder to find black shorts and pants. It can also be very expensive to buy multiple plaid skirts and jumpers! Our uniform skirts and jumpers cost only $10.00. That's an incredible $30.00 to $40.00 savings. Or if you have uniform items to swap it can cost nothing!! See more information under the fundraisers heading on this website. Consider using our Uniform Swap Shop for some of your uniform needs. We are open every Wednesday before school or by appointment if you can not make it on Wednesdays!
